The Swamp Duchy Has Spoken: Official Decrees on Frog Posting Conduct

There comes a moment in every group chat's life when the fun must be formalized. Someone sends a Pepe at 3 a.m. that crosses a line. Someone else replies with a deep-fried relic so ancient it still has a watermark from a forum that died in 2016. And someone — always someone — posts a sad frog in response to news that absolutely did not warrant a sad frog.

The Swamp Duchy has reviewed the evidence. The Duchy has wept. And now, the Duchy decrees.

Decree the First: On the Sad Frog Ration

Let us be clear: the sad Pepe is sacred. It is the group chat's emotional support amphibian, deployed in moments of genuine despair — a canceled brunch, a situationship texting "we need to talk," the season finale ending on a cliffhanger. But like all sacred things, it loses power when abused.

Henceforth, each member is allotted one (1) sad Pepe per calendar week. Additional deployments require a written justification of at least two sentences, reviewed by the chat's most emotionally available member. Violators shall be assigned the dreaded "🥺" reaction from the group mother, which is worse than any punishment the Duchy could devise.

Decree the Second: The Three-Frog Thread Ceiling

Frogs are like glitter, divas, and hot takes: wonderful in moderation, catastrophic in volume. The Duchy has determined that no single thread may contain more than three (3) Pepe posts before the conversation must return to words. Human words. Ideally lowercase, ideally unhinged, but words nonetheless.

The fourth consecutive frog triggers what scholars call the Apustu Cascade — a point of no return wherein the thread becomes 90% amphibian and the original topic is lost to the bog forever. If you have ever scrolled up twelve messages trying to remember what plan you were confirming before the frogs arrived, you have lived this tragedy.

Decree the Third: Context or Confiscation

Posting a deep-fried, JPEG-rotted, twelve-generations-recompressed Pepe without explanation is the swamp's cardinal sin. We understand the appeal — the crunchy artifacts, the colors that no longer exist in nature, the sense that this image has seen things. But your group chat is not an archaeology department.

Effective immediately, any relic posted without context must be accompanied by a caption of at least five words, e.g., "me at the function pretending to know the DJ" or "the vibe when the check arrives." Contextless relics shall be met with a single reply: "???." Three question marks. The Duchy's most withering punctuation.

Decree the Fourth: On Timing and Taste

There is a Pepe for every hour, and an hour for every Pepe. The smug frog thrives at noon. The sweaty nervous frog belongs to the minutes before a deadline. The 2 a.m. frog — you know the one — may only be dispatched after your local bars have closed and before your East Coast friends have awakened.

Sending a celebratory frog during someone's grief, or a chaotic frog during someone's job interview prep livestream, constitutes a timing violation. Penalty: you must sit with your wrongness and post a sincere, frog-free message of support. Yes, sincerely. The Duchy will know if you're faking it.

Decree the Fifth: Read the Room, Then Read the Frog

The final and greatest law. Etiquette is not about rules — it's about attunement. The truly fluent frog poster reads the chat's temperature before choosing their amphibian. Is the group spiraling? Deploy comfort frog. Is the group thriving? Smug frog, obviously. Is the group silent for six hours? That, dear subject, is a moment for the hopeful frog peeking over the fence. Someone has to break the silence. It might as well be green.

The Duchy's Final Word

These decrees are not meant to stifle frog freedom — they exist to protect it. A meme culture without manners is just noise; a group chat without frogs is just email. Follow the rules, break them with flair when the moment demands, and always, always provide context for the deep-fried ones.

The Duchy thanks you for your compliance. Feels good, man.
